My heart Is That Of A Sailor

.

My heart is that of a sailor
As he boat upon the water
With the stars to guide him
To the distant place of forever
And when the clouds cover
Those pin point places without a harbor
With the wind he does border
And find himself lost at sea
Not looking toward tomorrow.
But he set his sail to carry alee
Faster then the fishes
In their deep down skin that cover
And the waves are like a brother
And to it he sings amidship
I am a bird without wings
Still I have a song to sing
Could this be only a dream?
Tomorrow is forever as present is just a ring
That cover the song I sing
To the mist of waves that blows spray
Over the deck of my boat slippery with the sea.
I lean against the splashboard
The knot of the bright is tight
Avast, I am coming to get you
Can I stow away my heart into your hands?
O say that I can.
Will you meet me in my dream,
When the fishes learn to sing
Of the deep that enfold them
And brother sea is a notion
Split by my boating and my needs?
I am a bird without wings
And the sea is a song to sing.
Upon my boat the waves are crashing
Each drop is a happening full of salt
Without a drop to drink.
The ground tackle is in
The daggerboard is gone as I sail downwind
I am sailing toward what I mean
Leaving in my wake no better thing
Then the knowing and following sea.
My sails are pregnant with the wind
With the hands of my heading
And each dolphin is a cousin
Skipping across the water
Leaving me farther out to sea.
The leeway makes me dizzy to think of you.
In the deep there is much to discover
For the quartering sea is my brother
That keeps its secret far from the prying eye.
I am a bird without wings
But I have a song to sing
To the fishes that dream
Of the deep darkness that brings
A road map of the sea.
In my sea room I am free
As the sounding is deep
In the end we are all cousin
With the sea as our mother
Who wish with the squall to set us free.
I feel a kinship with the fishes
As if I once was a swimmer in their sea
I am just a bird without wings
But I have a song to sing
If you think of me tomorrow
Sailing into your harbor
Know that I won’t stay long
For the sea is ever calling
Me to set sail upon my dreams.
I go where you can not follow
On the back of my mother
With her endless flow toward
The knowing spray that blows
And the waves thrown against the rocks
Will always return to the sea.
Yes my heart is like that of a sailor
As he boat upon the water
With stars to guide him
To the distant place of forever.
